A good fiber splice is not only about the fusion event itself. Proper slack storage, splice protection, tray organization, enclosure selection and documentation all affect long-term serviceability.
Fusion splicing joins optical fibers with a controlled arc, producing a compact permanent connection for backbones, repairs, extensions and enclosure work.
SCOPE
Good splicing work begins with clean preparation and controlled fiber handling. Each strand is identified, routed in the tray without stress, protected at the splice and recorded so later testing and service can follow the same strand map.
CAPABILITIES
Confirm fiber type, strand count, splice locations, enclosure requirements, tray capacity and required post-splice testing before work begins.
Prepare and cleave individual fibers, complete fusion splices, protect each splice with suitable sleeves and organize completed fibers within the splice tray and enclosure.
Inspect completed splices, confirm link continuity and perform applicable optical-loss or OTDR testing when required by the project.
